Medical Conditions

  • Bunions

A bunion is a bony bump that forms on the joint at the base of your big toe. It occurs when some of the bones in the front part of your foot move out of place. This can be genetic, caused by arthritis, or from wearing shoes that were too tight. People with bunions should look for shoes with an expandable toe-box and a wider base to accommodate their toes and bunion.

  • Braces & AFOs

Braces and AFOs are foot and ankle devices worn inside shoes to stabilize and support. They aid in injury recovery and prevention, available in various styles and sizes for both acute and chronic conditions. Finding shoes that fit braces well can be hard because of their size, but Pandere Shoes are great for many braces because they make extra room for the middle and ankle parts of your foot.

  • Diabetes

Diabetes affects how your body turns food into energy and often causes foot problems like nerve damage, numbness, swelling, and slow healing wounds. Diabetics should avoid going barefoot. Pandere Shoes offer wide and extra-wide toe boxes with built-in expansion for toes, midfoot, and ankle areas. Our closed-toe styles have removable insoles and are orthotic friendly.

  • Edema/CHF

Edema from CHF occurs when one or both of your heart's lower chambers lose their ability to pump blood effectively. This can result in swelling of the feet and legs. People with CHF should look for shoes that can accommodate wide and extra-wide widths, and offer expansion in the ankle, midfoot, and toe box areas.

  • Hammertoe

A hammer toe has an abnormal bend in the middle joint of a toe. A hammer toe is usually caused by wearing shoes with high heels or narrow toe boxes. People with hammertoes should look for shoes that have a roomier toe box and allow for custom inserts. Pandere’s patent-pending designs include an unanchored toebox, that offers expansion in the areas where people with toe issues need more room. Pandere Shoes also have soft interiors, with little seams, that provide comfort for sensitive toes.

  • Lipedema

Lipedema is a condition that causes excess fat to accumulate in the lower part of the body. Lipedema most often involves the buttocks, thighs, and calves. The upper arms can also be affected. People with lipedema should look for shoes that can accommodate foot and ankle swelling and offer expansion in the ankle, midfoot, and toe box areas. Pandere shoes provide compression on feet that can help a person with swelling to feel better.

  • Lymphedema

Lymphedema is a condition that causes swelling. This is often caused by a damaged lymphatic system as a result of medical treatment or trauma. People with lymphedema often struggle to find shoes to accommodate their swollen feet and or ankles. Pandere Shoes offer expansion in the midfoot, ankle, and toe box area. Since one foot may swell while the other foot is normal, having a pair of shoes that can be easily tightened and loosened is important. Pandere shoes provide compression on feet that can help a person with swelling to feel better.

  • Neuropathy

Peripheral neuropathy is a result of damage to the nerves located outside of the brain and spinal cord (peripheral nerves), often causing weakness, numbness, and pain, usually in the hands and feet. Diabetes is a leading cause of peripheral neuropathy in the United States. Pandere Shoes can work well for many diabetics and people experiencing neuropathy. Our shoes extra wide shoes are designed with a wide and deep toe box. Our 3-dimensional expansion reduces rubbing. Our shoes have a soft comfortable interior and removable insoles that can be easily replaced with custom or over-the-counter orthotics.

  • Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis causes inflammation of the plantar fascia, the tissue linking the heel bone to the toes. This condition can lead to swelling and pain where the arch meets the heel. People with plantar fasciitis need supportive shoes that can also accommodate swelling. Pandere Shoes expand for swelling and tighten for support, making them ideal. Our shoes are orthotic-friendly with removable insoles, perfect for over-the-counter or custom orthotics.

  • Post Surgery

Post-surgery recovery often requires special footwear to accommodate swelling and provide support. Pandere Shoes are designed to expand for increased comfort and adjust to offer the necessary stability. During the phase when most podiatrists recommend a non-flexible shoe bottom, similar to a post-op shoe, our sandal styles with non-flexible bottoms are ideal.

  • Pregnancy

Pregnancy often causes foot swelling, especially in the third trimester, due to fluid buildup in the legs, ankles, and feet. Pandere Shoes are perfect for pregnant women experiencing this discomfort. Our shoes offer three-dimensional expansion for relief and will still fit after birth. Look for shoes with comfortable, high-quality, removable insoles that expand on the top of the foot, around the ankles, and toes.

  • Venous Insufficiency

Edema from Venous Insufficiency causes high pressure in leg veins and causes fluid to leak out and build up in the legs due to the effects of gravity. Untreated, venous insufficiency causes high pressure in veins that can worsen over time. People with venous insufficiency should look for shoes that are not tight and don’t rub. Pandere shoes are ideal for accommodating foot and leg swelling because they are designed to expand throughout the day. Pandere shoes provide compression on feet that can help a person with swelling to feel better.
